New UNE-EN 13369:2024 “Common rules for precast concrete products with CE marking”

Friday 21, February 2025

In March 2024, the new EN 13369:2023 will be published, superseding the obsolete EN 13369:2018. For precast concrete manufacturers, what changes does the regulatory change bring about?

().- EN 13369:2023, ‘Common rules for precast concrete products’, establishes common general specifications applicable to a wide variety of precast concrete products. It therefore affects the Factory Production Control System for all precast concrete products requiring CE marking.

The document provides the specifications, the basic performance criteria and the assessment and verification of constancy of performance (EVCP) of precast reinforced and prestressed mass concrete products made of light, normal and heavy concretes in accordance with EN 206 (UNE-EN 206:2013+A2:2021).

EN 13369:2023 can also be used to specify products for which no standard exists.

The new UNE-EN 13369:2024 follows the same continuist line as the obsolete UNE-EN 13369:2018 and does not represent a disruptive change. Although it coexisted for months with the draft of the new Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 on construction products, it does not include any of the fundamental aspects on which the new European regulation is based.

With respect to the previous edition, the most important changes are the following:

  • The normative references have been updated taking into account the current UNE-EN 206:2013+A2:2021,
  • The specifications related to concrete strength at the end of curing have been revised,
  • Annex A is revised with the deletion of the environmental conditions classes,
  • The vocabulary of Annex D is revised to bring it in line with the Construction Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) 305/2011, now repealed),
  • Annex H, relating to prestressing losses, is revised,
  • An informative Annex M related to the performance-based approach for precast concrete products is added.
  • Annexes G Core shape correlation coefficients and Annex N Use of aggregates from crushing and recycled coarse aggregates in concrete, both informative, are deleted.

We provide solutions

Since 2007, has been developing CE marking projects and constrol systems for precast concrete products and control systems for precast concrete (structural elements, chests, joists, concrete blocks, etc.) and other construction products (e.g. CE marking of aggregates).

As a leading engineering company in the sector, it advises and supports precast concrete manufacturers of construction products and acts in all phases of the Factory Production Control System, intervening, of course, in the preparation of technical dossiers, updating and harmonisation of regulations or the declaration of performance and conformity.

Our scope of action is national and international. At present, we develop CE Marking projects in all the autonomous communities (Andalusia, Canary Islands, Asturias, Catalonia, …) as well as in South America (Mexico, … ).

Since 2017, we have been developing sustainability projects in the precast sector, such as the environmental product declarations (EPD) UNE-EN 15804:2012+A2:2020/AC:2021 now fully aligned with the requirements of the New Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 on Construction Products.
